February 13, 2008 - EAST Technologies has released East-Tec DisposeSecure 2008 Enterprise, a powerful software application that completely and securely removes all data from hard drives or disk partitions before return of leased assets or computer disposal.

The latest release adds network support that will cut corporate users' work loads when securing their computers. DisposeSecure 2008 Enterprise runs over the network. Simply install the program on a server, network boot all of the computers that you want to erase, and the program will remove all data from the hard drives. You can create filters to select computers by MAC address. All sanitizing logs from all machines are sent to the server, where you can manage them easily.

Companies resell or donate outdated computers, reassign them to different departments and personnel, or remove them from operation when they upgrade hardware or migrate to newer operating systems. Private users resell or give away their obsolete systems after upgrading to newer and faster computers. But nobody wants to give away the entire history and data from that old computer, although this is exactly what happens if you don't take extra precautions.

Deleting files, formatting the hard disk or even using the FDISK utility will not destroy data. It will only prevent the operating system and normal software from accessing it. This is not enough to stop even a simple recovery utility from retrieving valuable corporate trade secrets, business plans, personal files, confidential letters, or traces of Internet or newsgroup activity.

Running East-Tec DisposeSecure 2008 Enterprise on a hard disk before giving it away will help avoid the risks of sharing sensitive information with people that will have access to that computer in the future. The program removes all traces of software and data from the computer hard disk, by overwriting and destroying every sector and every bit of information.

Data is removed according with U.S. Department of Defense standards, but the user can also use custom security levels, including the maximum security Gutmann standard.
